Installation Guidelines
Your installation decisions should take into account safety and security first, followed by
reliability and accessibility. Here are a few important rules and guidelines.
Safety
Use eye protection when using a drill or performing work that poses any hazard to the
eyes.
Use ear protection in a noisy working area.
Wear appropriate clothing or uniforms (not too loose; no jewelry). Safety shoes (steel-
tipped toes and shanks) are recommended.
Make sure you know beforehand exactly what is behind the area you are about to drill. Is it
electrical wires, condenser coils, or heavy gauge steel framing?
Use hood safety lanyards when the truck hood is open.
Make sure ladders are in good repair.
Do not place ladders in awkward or unsafe positions.
Security
Never install equipment in a manner that will cause damage to the truck or work loose over
time.
Make sure there are no loose components or cables and there are no unsecured
components in the cab or outside of the truck.
Use solid mounting surfaces.
Do not modify or design your own mounts without first obtaining QUALCOMM approval
(applies domestically only).
Note
Use only
QUALCOMM
-designated mounts for equipment installed in the United States.
