Caution
DO NOT remove the SDM radome (top part of the SDM). This will void the warranty.
Removing the radome exposes the MCP antenna to moisture.
DO NOT paint any portion of the SDM. This will void the warranty. Paint degrades
the performance of the MCP.
The SDM contains the antenna that sends and receives satellite signals. The SDM must be
securely and safely attached to the vehicle using an approved mounting device. The unit is
usually installed as high as possible, not to exceed 13'6" on the vehicle, so that the antenna
has a clear view of the satellites. The unit must be positioned on a level plane when the
vehicle is level.
The mount used depends on the type of vehicle on which you are installing the equipment.
For a listing of outdoor unit mounts and examples of typical installations, see the
Outdoor Unit
Mount Installation Guide
.
The following illustration shows the current version of the SDM. The connector is located on
the side of the unit. The SDM fits on existing OmniTRACS
®
mounts.
