A typical use of the GSP 1620 is depicted above showing a SCADA

application.

As shown the GSP 1620 can be thought of as a 9.6Kbps Full Duplex Satellite

Modem. The modem uses typical Hayes AT commands (see Chapter 4).

Standard RS232 interfaces facilitate ease of use and OEM / VAR application

integration.

The OEM VAR provides the custom Data Terminal Equipment or DTE which

manages the field processing of data, and reports process exceptions,

performance reports, alarm conditions, in short any data needed from the

remote site by the users host application.

The GSP 1620 can be thought of as a “node” on the Internet and with its

Fixed or Dynamically assigned IP address can be addressed in Real Time, as

often as necessary to maintain application control over the remote devices.
