Power Problems
If the power light is off — The computer is
either turned off or is not receiving power.
Remove the AC adapter and try turning on •
the computer with only the battery.
Remove the battery and try turning on the •
computer with only the AC adapter.
Check both ends of the AC adapter cable •
connections. Ensure that the light on the
AC adapter is on. If the light is not on,
try plugging the AC adapter into another
electrical outlet.
The power/battery lights on the hinges indicate
the following:
Light Battery AC adapter
Solid amber Battery low
Flashing
amber
Battery
critically low
Light Battery AC adapter
Solid white System
running on
battery
System is on
and battery
is getting
charged
Blinking
White
System is in
standby state
If the power light is solid amber — The
computer has a power problem or an internal
device malfunction. For assistance contact Dell,
see “Contacting Dell” on page 44.
If the power light is blinking amber — The
computer is receiving electrical power, but a
device might be malfunctioning or incorrectly
installed. For assistance contact Dell, see
“Contacting Dell” on page 44.
