Internal Power Supply Description
2.4.1
The Q4000 contains the required internal regulation and reverse bias/overvoltage protection to meet J1455
specifications for 12VDC and 24VDC systems. DC power of +6VDC to +32VDC is supplied through pins 1
and 2 (BATT+) and pins 3 and 4 (BATT-) of the multi-pin connector. The ground pins are connected directly
to the chassis of the Q4000. It is recommended that the power supply feeding the Q4000 be protected with a
fast-blow fuse sized appropriately for the expected current draw. Current draw is dependent on the features
and options that are installed and operating. See Table 2-2, Q4000 Power Consumption, for typical power
consumption.
External Power Supply Requirements
2.4.2
In order for the modem to boot properly:
1) The supply voltage must be below 1.4 volts for 4 seconds before re-applying the 6 to 32 V.
2) The rise time on the supply voltage must be 10ms maximum, from 0 to 6Vdc.
