A. Introduction
Welcome to the Quadra-Fire family. This manual will help
you understand and operate the wall control attached to
yournewpelletAdvancedEnergyappliance.
TheQuadra-Fire WallControlis not just atraditional ther-
mostat,butanintegralpartofthepelletappliancesystem.
While it has many of the features one would expect from
an advanced thermostat, including programmable setback
capabilitiesandcurrenttemperaturedisplay,italsoindicates
thesystem’scurrentoperatingcycleandstate.Itdoesthis
by communicating with the appliance via a wired connec-
tion.
Additionally,itallowsyoutosetparametersthatwilloptimize
theperformanceofyourpelletappliancesystem.Thesepa-
rametersareaccessedwithaneasytonavigatemenusys-
tem.

B. The Main Screen
Thekeytobeingcomfortablewhileoperatingyournewwall
controlis to familiarize yourselfwith the main screen.The
mainscreenshows,ataglance, the statusofthesystem,
themostimportantsettingsandthecurrenttemperature.Ad-
ditionally,themainscreenindicateswithsimpleiconsmany
useractionsrequiredtokeepyourapplianceworkingasin-
tended. Figure 2.1.
1. System Status Codes
Thestatusareaisusedtoindicatethecurrentstatusofthe
system.Itindicatesifthesystemisrunninginautomaticor
manualcycle,ifitisturnedonoroffandwhereitisinthe
operatingsequence.
a. START-UP
Indicatesthattheapplianceisinstart-upcycleandisinthe
processoflightinganinitialchargeoffuel.
b. SS-LOW or SS-MED (SS = soft start)
Indicatesthesoft-startportionofthelightingsequence.In
thesestagestherebeginstograduallybuildtooperating
temperature.
c. AUTO: (x) or MAN: (x) (x) = heat output level
Indicates both the operating cycle (automatic or manual)
andthecurrentheatoutputlevel.Theheatoutputlevelwill
be“H”high,“MH”mediumhigh,“M”medium,“ML”medium
lowand“L”low.
d. READY
Indicatesthatthesystemisturnedonandisfunctioningnor-
mally,butthereisnocallforheat(theroomtemperatureis
notbelowthesettemperature).See Figure 7.1 on page 7.
e. SHUTDOWN
Indicatesthesystemisshuttingdown,eitherbecauseitisno
longercallingforheatorthemaximumburntimehasbeen
reachedandthesystemmustrunanauto-cleancycle.
f. AUTO-CLEAN
Indicatesthesystemisrunningtherepotauto-cleancycle.
g. OFF
Indicatesthesystemhasbeenshutdownbytheuser.
h. MAINT BURN (Battery Back-up Only)
Themaintenanceburnistokeepthesystemfromshutting
downwhenoperatingonbatterybackup.Theappliancewill
notautomaticallyre-lightinmanualmode.
2. Current Time
Indicatesthecurrenttime.Thetimeisusedfortheprogram-
mablesetbackfeaturesofthewallcontrol.
3. Set Temperature
Indicates the current set temperature. It will change auto-
maticallyasthe control progresses throughthe7 day set-
backprogram.IfthewallcontrolisinHOLDTEMPcyclethe
“Setat:”indicationwillchangeto“Holdat:”anddisplaysthe
operatingtemperaturesetting.
4. Notication Icons
Thesystemnoticationareausesiconstoindicateifanac-
tionneedstobetaken.Inbatterymodeitindicatestheap-
proximatechargelevelofthebattery.
