2. Ash Removal from Firebox
• Frequency:Weeklyormorefrequentlydependingon
ashbuild-up
• By: Homeowner
Be sure the wall control screen says OFF and the
appliance is allowed to cool.
Theremustnotbeanyhotashesinthereboxduring
cleaning.
Frequentcleaningoftheashinthereboxwithavacuum
cleaner will help slow down the build-up of ash in the
exhaustblowerandventsystem.
3. Cleaning Ash Pan
• Frequency:Weeklyorevery3-5bags
• By: Homeowner
a Locatetheashpanunderneaththerepot.
b. Slidetheashpanstraightout.
c. Emptyintoanon-combustiblecontainerandre-installash
pan.
d. Whenreplacingashpanpushitbackuntilitcatcheson
the 2 side latches.
e. Clinkerslling the ash pan will have to be cleaned out
more often than ash. See Disposal of Ashes.
4. Disposal of Ashes
• Frequency: As needed
• By: Homeowner
Ashes should be placed in a steel container with a
tight-ttinglid.Thecontainerofashesshouldbemoved
outdoorsimmediatelyandplacedonanon-combustible
oor or on the ground, well away from combustible
materials,pendingnaldisposal.
Iftheashesaredisposedofbyburialinsoilorotherwise
locallydispersed,theyshouldberetainedintheclosed
containeruntilallcindershavethoroughlycooled.Other
wasteshallnotbeplacedinthiscontainer.

gasolineandotherammablevaporsandliquidsclearofappli-
ance.
• DoNOTstoreammablematerialsintheappliance’svicin-
ity.
• DoNOTusegasoline,lanternfuel,kerosene,charcoallighter
uid or similar liquids to start or “freshen up” a re in this
heater.
Keepallsuchliquidswellawayfromtheheaterwhileitisinuse
ascombustiblematerialsmayignite.

1. Auto-Clean System Inspection & Cleaning
Theauto-cleanonlydumpsashfromtherepot.Thecustomer
isrequiredtocleantheapplianceinregularintervalsdepending
uponuseandfuelquality.
• Frequency:Monthlyoreveryton(aprx.50bags)or
more frequently depending on the type of fuel

a.Besure the wall control screen says OFF and the
appliance is allowed to cool.

c.Inspecttheholesintherepotoorforanydebris.
• Theholesmustbekeptclear.
d.Howoftentherepotcleansitselfdependson:
•Thetypeof fuelyouselectedonthe thermostatwall
control
• Howlongtheapplianceburnsbeforesatisfyingsetpoint
on wall the control.
• Burning biomassfuels mayrequireamorethorough
cleaningduringtheburnseason.
e.Excessive clinkers will eventually jam the auto-clean
system and generate an error message on the wall
control.
• Inspectforanydegradationordeformation
• Asthespringsheatupandcooldowntheycanlose
tension
• If there is a gap showing above the repot bottom,
approximately1/16inch(1.59mm)ormore,itmeans
the springs have lost their tension
• Lost tension can not keep the oor in the proper
positioncausingignitionproblemsandfuelfallinginto
the ash pan.
•Callyourdealertoreplacethesprings.
