The chart will help you in determining proper
ventingsizeaccordingtotheequivalentfeetof
pipecalculatedaboveandthealtitudeabovesea
levelofthisinstallation.Figure 12.2.
Locatethecalculatedequivalentfeetofpipeon
theverticalleftsideof thechart. Movetothe
right horizontally on the chart until you reach
youraltitudeabovesealevel.
Ifyoufallbelowthediagonalline,3or4inch(76
to102mm)pipemaybeused.Ifitisanywhere
abovethediagonalline,a4inch(102mm)diam-
eterpipeisrequired.
Thechartrevealsthata90°elbowis5timesas
restrictive to the ow of exhaust gases under
positivepressureas1footofhorizontalpipe,and
afootofhorizontalpipeistwiceasrestrictiveas
afootofverticalpipe.
