9. Use silicone to create an effective vapor barrier at the
locationwherethechimneyorothercomponentpenetrates
totheexteriorofthestructure.
NOTE: Offsets from the vertical, not exceeding 45°, are
allowedperSection905(a)oftheUniformMechanicalCode
(UMC).Offsetsgreaterthan45°areconsideredhorizontal
andarealsoallowed,providingthehorizontalrundoesnot
exceed75%oftheverticalheightofthevent.Construction,
clearanceandterminationmustbeincompliancewiththe
UMCTable9C.ThisinstallationmustalsocomplywithNFPA
211.
NOTE:Topsectionsofchimneymustberemovabletoallow
maximumclearanceof13.5feet(411cm)fromgroundlevel
fortransportationpurposes.
