Operationalnote–Howdothemodulescommunicate?
TheWP2Pmodulesusean“eventdriven”approachtocommunications.Whenthestateof
anyinputchangestheWP2Pmodulewillimmediatelycommunicatethatchangetotheother
WP2Pmodule.Thisapproachresultsinveryfastresponsetimes.
IfthecommunicationslinkbetweenapairofWP2Pmodulesgoesdown(forexampleifoneof
themlosespower),thentherelayoutputstateoftheonmoduleismaintainedatthevalueit
waspriortothelinkgoingdown.
WhentheWP2Pmodulesdetectachangeoftheirinputstate,theywillimmediatelytransmita
messagetotheothermodule.ThereisaverysmallchancethatanotherWP2Pmoduleon
thatchannelalsowantedtosendamessageatexactlythesametime.Thiswillresultina
“collision”,buttheWP2Pmodulescandetectthatacollisionhasoccurred,andwillthenusea
collisionavoidanceschemetoretransmittheirmessages.
