EP1 - User Interface - Quick Start Guide – v1.1 – 10 September 2010 2 Introduction The EP1 Programming Dongle is used to upgrade the firmware of the Q03 DATRAN RTUs. This is a two stage process: • Using the EP1 User Interface PC software to upload the required firmware to the EP1 Programming Dongle. This procedure is outlined in this quick start guide. • Using the EP1 Programming Dongle to upgrade the firmware of a Q03 DATRAN RTU. This procedure is outlined in a separate quick start guide.
EP1 - User Interface - Quick Start Guide – v1.1 – 10 September 2010 3 User Interface Connection Status This indicates that the PC software has detected the Dongle and can communicate with it. There are two states: • Disconnected with a red flashing LED – indicates that the Dongle is either unplugged or there is a problem connecting with it. If this occurs try unplugging and reconnecting the dongle and/or restarting the EP1 PC software.
EP1 - User Interface - Quick Start Guide – v1.1 – 10 September 2010 4 Licenses Remaining Q03 firmware licenses can be purchased from QTech in bulk. This indicates the total licenses that have been purchased and the number remaining. Check this quantity of remaining licenses before heading on-site. The EP1 Dongle will not upgrade the RTU if there are no remaining licenses. Firmware Upload QTech can supply Q03 firmware updates quickly via email.
