ohmBNCconnector.TheQ80Moduleisnotsuppliedwithanaerial.QTechsupplyanumberofsuitableaerials;
pleasecontactusforfurtherdetails.
Suitableaerialsincludewhips,foldeddipolesandyagis.Theaerialusedmustpresent50ohmstotheQ80Module
BNC RF connector at the operating frequency. The RF output of the Q80 Module is unbalanced referenced to
ground. Therefore folded dipoles and yagis will require a suitable unbalance to balanced impedance matching
balum.

QTech’s aerial range are generally supplied with 6m of coaxial cable “tail” is RG58. In applications where the
supplied6metrecoaxialaerialcableisnotsuitable,site-specificcablescanbeconstructed.Thesecableshould
beconstructedusinggoodquality50ohmBNCconnectorswithcrimpedferrules.
Note TV75ohmBNCconnectorshaveasmallercentrepin.Ifused,thesewillcauseanimpedancemismatch
andnotmateproperlywiththeQ80ModuleRFBNCconnector.
ThecableusedtoconstructtheaerialcableshouldbegoodqualityRG58/UorRG213/Ucoaxialcable.Forcable
lengthsgreaterthan6metresatUHFfrequenciesRG213/Ucoaxialcableshouldbeused.
All connections to the coaxial cable should be sealed against moisture ingress and the aerial cable routed and
securedinawaysoastopreventmechanicaldamageandeliminatetightbends.
ThecompletedaerialsystemshouldbecheckedforVSWRwithasuitableVSWRmeter.TheVSWRshouldbe
betterthan1to1.5.
