Chapter 4: Serviceable Components
Note: This chapter provides instructions for adding and replacing hot swappable and serviceable
system components and memory DIMMs.
Before You Begin
Before working with your server product, pay close attention to the Safety and Regulatory Information on page iii.
Tools and Supplies Needed
Phillips (cross head) screwdriver, #2 bit
Flat-head screwdriver
Antistatic wrist strap and conductive foam pad (recommended)
System References
Unless otherwise noted, all references to left, right, front, top, and bottom assume the reader is facing the front of
the chassis as it would be positioned for normal operation.
Installing the Protective Ground Wire
A bond wire of at least 18 AWG copper stranded wire and at least 1 meter (3.28 feet) long is required to ground
the server system. To install the protective grounding wire, follow the steps below.

1. Locate the grounding bolt on the chassis rear left side wall designated by the
symbol
2. Remove the outer nut from the bolt. See “1” in the figure above.
3. Attach the bond wire ring terminal with the lug on the inner nut. See “2” in the figure above.
4. Replace the outer nut. See “3” in the figure above.
Note: The grounding wire lug goes between the two nuts on the bolt.
Adjust the bond wire to fit into the cable management arm.
