Removing and Installing the Optical Disk Drive
The server system accommodates one optical drive. The device is not hot swappable, so the system must be
powered down and the power cords removed from the chassis before installing or removing this drive.
Note: Value SKU systems use the 6 Mainboard SATA connectors for the HSBP. You will need to
disconnect a SATA cable from a hard drive bay on the HSBP and connect it to connector 8 on the
HSBP to be able to use an Optical Disk Drive. The hard drive bay corresponding to the removed
SATA cable will no longer be available.
Removing an Optical Disk Drive
1. Remove memory riser No. 5. For the location of memory riser No. 5 see “Figure 6. Memory Riser Locations
and Numeration” on page 8; the memory riser number is also stamped into the chassis mid-brace. For
instructions on removal see “Removing a Memory Riser” on page 64.
2. Remove the memory dividers next to memory riser No. 5. For instructions see “Removing the Memory
Dividers” on page 95.
3. Move the FFC cable on the memory rug to one side to clear the ODD release latch. See “1” in the following
figure.
