Installing and Removing the I/O Riser
Installing the I/O Riser
1. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Top Cover” on page 82.
2. Being careful not to touch the components or connectors on the I/O riser card, remove the card from the
anti-static bag and place it on a clean, ESD-protected work surface.
3. Optional: Install the Intel® Remote Management Module 3 (RMM3) onto the I/O riser. For instructions, see
“Installing the RMM 3” on page 93.
4. Rotate the retention latch into the up position.
5. Press the card down in to the riser slot until it is firmly seated. See “1” in the following figure.
6. Rotate the retention latch into the down position. See “2” in the following figure.

7. Install the top cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Top Cover” on page 52.
Removing the I/O Riser
1. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Top Cover” on page 82.
2. Optional: Remove the Intel® Remote Management Module 3 (RMM3) from the I/O riser if it is installed. For
instructions, see “Removing the Intel®RMM3” on page 94.
3. Rotate the retention latch into the up position. See “1” in the following figure.
4. Carefully lift the I/O riser card out of the slot. See “2” in the following figure.
