Installing and Removing the SAS Riser
The SAS riser is installed at the SAS riser slot.
Removing the SAS Riser
Caution: Before removing any hard drives, note their locations. Hard drives must be reinstalled in their original
positions. Failure to reinstall the drives in the correct locations may result in a loss of data.
1. Remove the top cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Top Cover” on page 82.
2. Disconnect the two mini-SAS cables connecting the SAS Riser to the backplane.

3. Rotate the retention latch into the up position.
4. Carefully lift the card up out of its slot.

5. Install an expansion slot cover by sliding it down to cover the opening.
6. Rotate the retention latch into the down position.
7. Install the top cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Top Cover” on page 52.
