The system software in your QMS magicolor 330 CX Print System is
stored in flash ROM, read-only memory that can be erased and
rewritten to “in a flash.” The system software in your QMS
magicolor
330 EX Print System is stored on the hard disk. Updated system
software allows you to take advantage of future enhancements to
the printer.
»Note:
Updating system software on a hard disk requires that the
SIMM in the first slot on the printer controller board have at least
16 MB of memory.


 Caution: Unless the printer is nonfunctional, you should should update
the system software using CrownAdmin over Ethernet. (Refer to the
CrownAdmin online help for instructions). A nonfunctional system
requires the parallel connection from a PC, as described in the rest of
this section.


Parallel
Recommended method for downloading
from a non-networked IBM or compatible
PC because it’s the fastest.
No additional cables or changes of port
settings required.
Serial
For use when the parallel method is
unavailable.
Requires either a null modem cable or a
standard serial cable with a null modem
adaptor attached.
