Menu Copier Menu/Copy Mode/Scan Size
Purpose Select the width (horizontal size) and length (vertical size) of the
image to be scanned to crop (scan only part of) an image or to
reduce the copying time for images smaller than letter or A4.
Choices Supported Size Horiz. (in x 100) Vert. (in x 100)
Letter 850 1100
Legal 850 1400
A5 582 827
B5 715 1011
A4 827 1169
Default Horiz. (in x 100) 850 (8.5")
Vert. (in x 100) 1100 (11.0")
Notes These values must be selected if you are using the automatic
document feeder (ADF) as well as the flatbed for copying.
The more you crop out of a scan, the less time it takes to process
and print. For example, if you need to copy a photograph, you
can get faster copies by placing it at the upper-right corner of the
scanner bed and cropping the scan to fit the dimensions of the
photograph (the scanner bed has rulers that mark inches.)
Examples You can also use the Scan Size menu to crop
an image. Cropping is done from right and
bottom sides of the page.
For example, look at the image shown to
the right:
If you place this image on the
scanner bed and set the Copier
Menu/Copy Mode/Scan Size
Vert. (in x 100) menu to 400,
you’ll get this:
If you place this same image
on the scanner bed and set the
Copier Menu/Copy Mode/Scan
Size Horiz. (in x 100) menu to
550, you’ll get this:
