Removal and Replacement Procedures
RRP 8.1 Main Drive Assembly (PL 10.1)
Removal
1. Remove the EP Cartrid

Do not attempt to remove the Main Drive Assembly without first removing the EP Car-
tridge.
2. Remove the Rear Cover

3. Open the Left Upper Cover.
4. Remove the Left Cover Interlock Switch Assembl

5. Remove the screw securin

the Inner Cover to the printer frame, and remove the Inner Cover

6. Disconnect J205 from the Main Motor PWB.
7. Release the wire harness that is located
j
ust above the Main Motor PWB from the wire clip and move
the harness out of the wa
y
.
8. Remove the screw securin
g
the
g
reen
g
round wire to the Main Drive Assembl
y
, and move the
g
round
wire out of the wa
y

9. Disconnect P/J 462 from the MCU PWB.
10. Disconnect P/J 202, J209, J600, and J601.
11. Remove the three screws securin
g
the Harness Support to the Main Drive Assembl
y
, and move the
Harness Support and attached harness out of the wa
y
.
12. Remove the three self-tappin
g
screws securin
g
the Main Drive Assembl
y
to the printer frame.
The bottom ri
g
ht screw also secures a
g
round wire
(
with attached resistor
)
to the printer frame.
13. Remove the screw that secures a
g
round strap at the bottom left of the Main Drive Assembl
y
.
14. Lift the Exit Gear out of the wa
y
, and pull the Main Drive Assembl
y
strai
g
ht back and out of the printer
frame.
If you are having difficulty removing the Main Drive Assembly, check to make sure there are
no wire harnesses in the way, the Registration Clutch location notch in not in the way, and
that the drive pin on the Drive Assembly is in the center of the cutout in the printer frame.
