5 After the updated system software has been written to flash
ROM or the system disk, the printer returns to IDLE.
»Note: The new system image will not erase the old image until
the printer verifies that the new image is valid.
6 Restart the printer to activate the new system software.
7 Print another advanced status page, and verify that the con-
figuration settings are the same.

1 Connect the serial cable to the printer.
2 Download the DOS MODEX program available from the QMS
Bulletin Board.
Using your modem, dial the QMS Bulletin Board as described in
appendix A, “QMS Customer Support.” Access the QMS Main
Library through the L (Library of Files) selection, then do the fol-
lowing:
a Choose D ... Download a file
b Type hibaud.exe↵
c Exit the bulletin board
d Terminate the connection
3 Type hibaud↵
4 Set the PC’s baud rate to 38400 by typing the following:
modex.exe↵
modex # 38400 n 8 ↵

5 Access the Administration/Miscellaneous/New System
Image menu.
