Enable VI and Assign IP Addresses
After installing SANblade Control VIX, you first need to enable VI support and assign
IP addresses to the HBAs. (If you do not assign IP addresses, your applications
that use VI will not work properly (you will not be able to access remote or local
machines using VI.))
Follow these steps:
1. Click an adapter in the HBA tree on the left side of the screen. The HBA tabbed
pages are displayed on the right side of the screen.
2. Click the VI tab. The VI tabbed page displays (see figure 19-17).

3. Select the Enable VI check box.
4. Assign a new IP address in the IP Address field if you do not want to use the
address assigned by the system.
5. Assign a number for the adapter in the VI Device Number box. This number
ties a \\.\VINIC number to the world wide port name of the QLA2350/2352 HBA.
Consequently, when you move the QLA2350/2352 HBA to a different slot on
your system, you can still access the HBA using the VI device number. This
feature is a form of persistent binding for VI HBAs.
6. Click Update.
