17 – SANblade Control FX Application for Windows NT/ Windows 2000

Perform the following steps to install SANblade Control FX GUI on a Windows
NT/Windows 2000 operating system:
1. Download the scfx122.exe file to your local machine, or use the scfx122.exe
file in the SANsurfer Tool Kit.
2. Double-click scfx122.exe from Windows Explorer, or execute the file from the
MS-DOS prompt. The installation wizard will launch.
3. Follow the instructions displayed by the installation wizard to install SANblade
Control FX.
4. When installation is complete, you can start SANblade Control FX GUI as
follows: from the Start menu, select Programs, select QLogic Corporation,
then click SANblade Control FX.

Getting Started
Running the SANblade Control FX Application allows you to configure the HBAs as
well as the attached target devices. Most importantly, you can persistently bind
targets with SANblade Control FX. You can also view information about the host,
HBAs, devices, and LUNs. In addition, you can perform diagnostics (loopback and
read/write buffer), and flash the NVRAM and BIOS. See section 17.1 for a complete
list of features available in SANblade Control FX.
The SANblade Control FX Application starts if it detects that all HBAs on the local
host have been configured at least once using the SANblade Control FX Wizard
(see section 18). You can also start the SANblade Control FX Application from the
SANblade Control FX Wizard (see section 18.4.8).

Exiting SANblade Control FX Application
Perform one of the following steps to exit the SANblade Control FX Application:
n From the SANblade Control FX Application main window File menu, select Exit.
n Click the Close button in the upper-right hand corner of the screen.

Main Window and Window Navigation
This section provides an overview of the SANblade Control FX Application, including
how to navigate through the screens and tabbed pages. The purpose of each screen
is described. See sections 17.6 and 17.7 for information on using the GUI to view
and configure the HBAs.
