Q
The binding information for target devices is in the table in the bottom half of the
page. Each row in the table corresponds to one port of a target device. The table
has the following entries for each target device connected to the current HBA:
n Bind. This column contains a check box which is selected or cleared. The check
box is selected if the corresponding target device is already persistently bound
in the configuration file. The check box is cleared if the corresponding target
device is not persistently bound.
n Device Type. This column shows if the target device is a Disk or a Tape. If the
type of the device cannot be determined, then Not Known is displayed.
n Port Name. This column lists the world wide port name of the target device.
n Node Name. This column lists the world wide node name of the target device.
n Target ID. This column displays the target ID of the device. If the target device
is already bound in the configuration file, the target ID displayed is the ID by
which it is bound in the configuration file. If the target device is not bound, the
target ID displayed has been assigned to the target by the driver. If the target ID
assigned by the driver cannot be retrieved, the SANblade Control FX Application
tries to assign a distinct ID to every target device that is not bound. This column
is editable: you can bind the target device by a valid ID.
A target ID is invalid if at least one of the following is true:
q The target ID does not lie between 0–255.
q The target ID is the same as a boot device ID.
q The target ID contains any alphanumeric characters.
q Two target IDs are equal.
If you try to save an invalid target ID, the SANblade Control FX Application detects
it and a warning is displayed.
n Vendor ID. This column displays the vendor ID for the target. For example, if
the vendor is Seagate, the column displays SEAGATE.
n Product ID. This column displays the product ID assigned by the vendor.
n Product Revision. This column displays the product revision number of the
target device assigned by the vendor.
If the persistent-binding-configuration parameter in the configuration file is set to 0,
then all target devices are reported to the OS. In this case, the SANblade Control
FX Application selects and disables all check boxes under the Bind column.
Consequently, all target devices will be persistently bound in the configuration file
with the target IDs provided in the Target ID column when you save the
configuration.
If the persistent-binding-configuration parameter in the configuration file is set to 1,
then only bound target devices are reported to the OS. In this case, the SANblade
