Installing the Driver
NOTE:
n Novell no longer supports version 4.2. If you are using this version, be
sure to install support pack 9 (NW42SP9).
n The driver HAM file resides on the default Netware DOS directory
C:\NWSERVER; you can shortcut the driver installation process by
copying the HAM file (and the DDI file) to that directory, then editing the
script file STARTUP.NCF (in the same directory) to contain one driver load
line for each QLA23xx HBA. For example:
LOAD QL2300.HAM /LUNS /SLOT=401
LOAD QL2300.HAM /LUNS /SLOT=402
This section describes four NetWare driver installation options:
n Initial installation of the NetWare operating system and the NetWare driver
(QLA23xx HBA connects to the boot device) (see section 11.3.1)
n Initial installation of the NetWare operating system and the NetWare driver
(QLA23xx HBA connects to an add-on device) (see section 11.3.2)
n Initial installation of the NetWare driver in an already installed NetWare operating
system (see section 11.3.3)
n Installing an updated NetWare driver in an already installed NetWare operating
system that has an older version of the driver (see section 11.3.4)
11.3.1
Initial Installation of NetWare and the NetWare Driver (QLA23xx HBA
Connects to the Boot Device)
Perform the following steps to initially install NetWare and the NetWare driver on a
Fibre Channel (FC) disk drive attached to the QLA23xx HBA:
1. Start Fast!UTIL and select the FC disk drive as the boot device (see section 14).
2. If you haven't already done so, install DOS on the boot disk.
3. If you are installing NetWare version 4.2, perform the following steps.
Otherwise, continue to step 4.
a. Create directory NWUPDATE at the root of the C: drive.
b. Copy the NWPA.NLM file from Support Pack 9 (or later) to directory
NWUPDATE on the C: drive.
During installation, NetWare version 4.2 will use the NWPA.NLM from the
NWUPDATE directory instead of the one on the CD-ROM (CD).
