Updating FCode on the QLA23xx HBA
If you need to update the FCode on the QLA23xx HBA, use the QLogic qla2x00
flash utility. A QLogic Solaris SPARC driver revision 3.06 or later must be installed
before the flash utility can be run.
WARNING!!
The following information does not apply if you are configuring a new
system.
If your system has a resident BIOS, changing to FCode alters the
device path names, which can affect file system mount points,
adapter instance numbers, etc. Upgrading to FCode may require
system reconfiguration. Furthermore, an incorrect reconfiguration
can render the QLA23xx HBA unusable to the point that the
operating system may not function.
Enter the show-devs command (see step 1 in section 2.3.5) to
determine if your system has a resident BIOS. If the device path
contains scsi or fibre-channel, as in the following examples, a BIOS
has been installed.
/devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@4/sd@82,0
/devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1/fibre-channel@4/sd@82,0
If you change to FCode, the device path changes, for example:
/devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1/QLGC,qla@4/sd@82,0
The following instructions flash the FCode using the command line. You can perform
the same function through SANblade Control FX (see the SANsurfer Applications
User’s Guide (FS0054601-00)).
Perform the following steps to run the flash utility:
1. Copy the qla2x00flash file and the ifp2300.prom file to the desired directory.
2. At the command line, enter the appropriate path. Use the information obtained
with the show-devs command (see step 1 in section 2.3.5). For example:
qla2x00flash -l /devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1/QLGC,qla@4:
devctl ifp2300.prom
