Installing the Windows 2000 Driver
The QLA23xx HBAs are plug-and-play devices that are automatically detected by
Windows 2000. Perform the following steps to add the Windows 2000 driver to a
previously installed Windows 2000 system:
1. Install the QLA23xx HBA.
2. Power up the computer.
3. Windows 2000 detects the newly installed device, then displays the Found
New Hardware with Fibre Channel controller message. The Found New
Hardware Wizard program is launched to begin installing the QL2300.SYS
driver for the QLA23xx HBA.
4. Click Next.
5. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended). Click
Next.
6. The Found New Hardware Wizard displays with the Locate Driver Files
message and prompts Search for driver files for the following hardware
device.
7. Leave the two Optional search locations check boxes selected. Place the
driver disk created in section 8.2 in an appropriate drive. Click NEXT.
8. Windows 2000 finds the file named a:\oemsetup.inf on the driver disk. Click
NEXT to install the driver. You will see the Copying File … message as the
files are copied to the hard disk.
9. The Found New Hardware Wizard displays the message Completing the
Found New Hardware Wizard. A message at the bottom of the screen instructs
you To close the wizard, click finish. Click Finish to close the wizard.
10. A Found New Hardware window is displayed and the qlpseudo.inf setup file
installs automatically.
11. If the Digital Signature Not Found dialog box displays, select Yes.
12. Click Finish on the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard/Completing the Upgrade
Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
13. The following message displays:
Windows 2000 has finished installing new devices. You must
restart your computer before the new settings will take effect.
Do you want to restart your computer now?
Click Yes.
