Introduction
This section provides instructions for installing FCode on a QLA22xx board installed
in a Solaris SPARC system. A QLA22xx board with FCode loaded in its flash ROM
provides boot capability to its attached devices.
The following files are included. Be sure to review the readme.txt file for both new
and changed information.
■ ifp2200.prom—FCode code binary file
■ readme.txt—FCode readme file
■ flasutil.exe—x86 DOS flash utility
■ qla2x00flash—Solaris flash utility
■ readme—readme for qla2x00flash
The procedure for installing FCode flash is summarized in the following steps and
explained in detail in the following sections.
1. Flash the QLA22xx board with FCode (see section B.2).
2. Set the QLA22xx board connection mode (see section B.3).
3. Set the QLA22xx board loop ID (see section B.4).
4. Select the boot device (see section B.5).
5. Build the bootable disk (see section B.6).

Flashing a QLA22xx Board with FCode
Flash the QLA22xx board with FCode if it is loaded with BIOS or if you want to
update the existing FCode on the QLA22xx board. A QLogic Solaris SPARC driver
revision 3.06 or later must be installed before the flash utility can be run.
WARNING!!
Be careful when changing flash contents; incorrect data may render
the QLA22xx board unusable to the point that the operating system
may not function.
