5 – Using QLconfig Configuring SAN Components

❑ If you have changed the machine’s configuration in the Device and LUN

Configuration window, right-click on the machine, then select Save and

Apply Machine Configuration. The changes are sent to the machine and

become effective immediately (without rebooting the machine).

❑ If you have changed the machine’s configuration in the Device and LUN

Configuration window, right-click on a machine in the window, then select

Save Configuration to Machine Registry. The changes are sent to the

machine and are saved in that machine’s registry. The changes will not take

effect until the machine is rebooted.

❑ Select File>>Save and Apply the Current Configuration in the Device

and LUN Configuration window. This menu option saves the current

configuration to the registry after a validity check, and updates the

QLA2xxx adapter to make the new configuration effective immediately

(without rebooting the system).

❑ Select File>>Save Configuration to the Registry in the Device and LUN

Configuration window. This menu option saves the current configuration

to the registry. Before saving, QLconfig performs a validity check on the

configuration. If it detects any illegal settings, such as a device configured

as a primary path on more than one QLA2xxx adapter, the registry save is

not executed. If QLconfig is exited with the configuration changed and this

registry save has not been selected, the application will prompt you to save

the configuration (see figure 5-15):
