Updating the System
5.8.1
Flash BIOS
You can update the flash BIOS on a Windows NT/2000 system if these conditions
are met:
❑ You select the Enable NVRAM Parameters Update option under QLview
for Fibre Security (see section 5.2.5.1).
❑ You provide the correct password and it is authenticated by the QLview for
Fibre Security Agent.
You can update the flash BIOS on a NetWare system under the following
conditions:
❑ You entered a password in the security application (see section 5.2.5.2).
❑ You provide the correct password and it is authenticated by QLview for
Fibre.
To update the flash BIOS, follow these steps:
1. Click the Diagnostics & Utilities tab in the Adapter’s Diagnostics and
Utilities window (see figure 5-20).
2. Click Update Flash From File.
3. Enter your password at the prompt (see figure 5-27).

4. If the password provided is correct, QLview for Fibre prompts you for the
file name that contains the new flash BIOS. You can obtain this file from
the QLogic web site or technical service personnel. It typically ends with
.BIN, such as, QL22ROM.BIN.
