The installation process might take several minutes. A message displays when
the installation process is complete.
11. Press F10 when the installation process is complete.
12. Exit from SMIT.
13. Remove the compact disc.
14. Restart the host system.
Verifying the configuration
To verify the configuration of the ESS on the AIX host system, type the following
command:
lsdev -Cc disk | grep 2105
A list of all ESS devices displays. See Figure 36 for an example.
If a device is listed as another type of device, the message shown in Figure 37
displays. This message indicates that the configuration was not successful.
When you use the lsdev -Cc disk | grep 2105 command, you know the installation
is successful if you see the information listed in Figure 36.
When you use the lsdev -Cc disk | grep 2105 command, you see only display
lines that contain the value immediately after it. If you have not defined any 2105
devices, a message of none displays.
Configuring VSS and ESS devices with multiple paths per LUN
The Versatile Storage Server (VSS) and the ESS support multiple path
configurations for a LUN. This means that you can have multiple hdisks available
on the AIX server for each physical LUN. If you create a PVID sector 0 of a LUN
and you delete all hdisks from the system with the rmdev command, you must
restart the system. If you want to restore all multiple paths for all LUNs, use the
cfgmgr command for each fibre-channel adapter.
