3. A zero
4. a two-digit port number, followed by a 3-digit storage facility identification
number
The ESS sets the storage facility identification number equal to the last 3 characters
of the array serial number. If your enterprise has installed multiple ESS arrays in
which the last 3 characters of the array serial number are equal, the SSR can
modify the value using the service login.
An example of a storage facility number is: 01003789 for LUN 1 on port 3 in
storage facility 789. The AS/400 host system uses the last five digits as the
controller serial number. The ESS appears to be the same as a real 9337 to the
AS/400 host system. They both appear as one controller with up to eight LUNs
attached.
Table 9 shows an example from the hardware service manager (HSM) logical
resources.

The ESS disk drives that emulate the 9337 models on an AS/400 host system have
full-capacity drives (all xxC models). The xxC indicates protected models. The
status for protected models is DPY (device parity).
The ESS supports the requirement by defining a protected and unprotected 9337
Models xxC and unprotected 9337 Models xxA. You can define a status of
unprotected through the ESS Web server when you assign the LUNs. The AS/400
host supports only software mirroring on an unprotected 9337 model and prevents
software mirroring on a protected 9337 model.
