Specifications
Figure 18 illustrates the worldwide node name (WWNN), It is identified as the
“WWN” for each adapter. You need the world wide port name (WWPN) to configure
the ESS host attachment. To determine the worldwide port name (WWPN) for the
KGPSA adapters, replace the “2” with a “1”.
Adding or modifying AlphaServer connections
To add, remove or modify the AlphaServer connections, see the IBM TotalStorage
ESS Web Interface User’s Guide. When you add a connection, it is necessary to
specify the worldwide port name of the host connection. See “Appendix A. Locating
the worldwide port name (WWPN)” on page 153 for procedures on how to locate
the WWPN for each KGPSA adapter card.
Configuring host adapter ports
To configure the host adapter ports, see the IBM TotalStorage ESS Web Interface
User’s Guide.
Adding and assigning volumes
To set up disk groups, create volumes on the arrays and assign them to the Tru64
connections, see the IBM TotalStorage ESS Web Interface User’s Guide.
For initial installations in non-clustered configurations, you can use the ESS
volumes for the following parameters:
v /,
v /usr
v /var
v boot partition
v quorum
v swap
For better performance, use the swap parameter for local storage.
With the ESS LIC, IBM recommends that you set up a minimum size dummy
volume to be seen as LUN 0 during initial installations. You can use the LUN as the
CCL (command controlLUN) or pass-through LUN. This LUN passes commands to
the ESS controller. Future versions of ESS LIC will automatically allocate this LUN.
IBM recommends that the first volume on the ESS as a minimum size volume. The
