Migrating on a Windows NT or Windows 2000 host system
This section tells you how to migrate from SCSI to fibre-channel adapters on a
Windows NT or Windows 2000 host system. Before you migrate, ensure that the
following prerequisites are complete:
v Your host system has disks or logical volumes that are located on an ESS that is
already in use.
v The disk or logical volumes are attached to the host system with two or more
SCSI interfaces.
v The IBM Subsystem Device Driver is installed and running properly.
v The host system has one or more fibre-channel adapters installed, including
feature code 3022.
v All appropriate software prerequisites, drivers, and program temporary fixes have
been implemented.
Figure 68 shows an example of a setup between the Windows NT or Windows
2000 host and the ESS before you migrate from SCSI to fibre-channel.
You can view the volumes using one of three methods:
v Internet browser
v SAN Gateway Explorer
v Disk Administrator
Perform the following steps to view the setup of the volumes that are attached to
SCSI adapters on the host system:
1. From your desktop, double click My Computer.
2. Double click Control panel.
3. Double click SCSI adapters.
Figure 69 on page 165 shows an example of how volumes are attached to SCSI
adapters on the host. In the example, disks were already labeled and drive letters
were previously assigned.
