Note: If you are installing the fibre-channel adapter for the first time, you must
specify the correct topology. You must also select the appropriate device
mapping driver.
1. From your desktop, click Start Settings.
2. Double click Control Panel.
3. Double click SCSI Adapters.
4. Click the Drivers tab.
5. Click Add to create a list of drivers.
A window opens that indicates the progress of the operation. When the
operation completes, the window closes and displays another window called
Install Driver.
6. From the Install Driver window, click Have Disk.
7. Enter the path to the driver file that you downloaded and click OK.
For example, if you downloaded the adapter driver file to a folder called
Emulex, type c:\emulex\emulex.zip.
8. To install the driver, highlight the line that lists the driver you want and click
OK.
Note: The driver affects every adapter in the system. If you have more than
one adapter that requires different parameter settings, you must change
the parameter settings with the port utility and restart your host system.
9. Click Yes to restart the host system.
10. After you restart your host system, click Start Settings.
11. Double click Control Panel.
12. Double click SCSI Adapters.
13. Click the Drivers tab.
Verify that the Emulex SCSI driver is present and started.
14. Click the Devices tab.
Verify that the host adapter is on the list.
Parameter settings for the Emulex LP8000 on a Windows NT host
system
See Table 24 for recommended host bus adapter configuration file parameters for
an Emulex LP8000 adapter. The settings are for an ESS Model F20 that is attached
through a switch using the fabric, automap SCSI devices port driver, an ESS Model
F20 that is attached directly, using the arbitrated loop, automap SCSI devices port
driver.
