A File Manager window opens showing the paths for the Subsystem Device
Driver package subdirectories. Figure 53 shows an example of the path.
Note: You must be on the host console to see this window.
3. Change to the subdirectory that contains the Subsystem Device Driver
package.
a. For Sun host hardware platforms limited to 32-bit mode and for all Sun
host systems running Solaris 2.6, type:
cd /cdrom/unnamed_cdrom/Sun32bit
b. For Sun host hardware platforms with 64-bit capabilities running Solaris 2.7
or Solaris 8 type:
cd /cdrom/unnamed_cdrom/Sun64bit
4. To initiate the Package Add menu, type: ls
A list of available packages is shown. When you select the package, you must
specify the directory and package name.
5. Select the option number for the IBM DPO driver (IBMdpo), and press Enter.
6. Select y to continue the installation for all prompts until the package installation
is complete.
7. Select q and press Enter to exit the Package Options menu.
8. Type cd to change back to the root directory.
9. To remove the Subsystem Device Driver compact disc, type eject cdrom.
Press Enter.
10. Edit the .profile file in the root directory, and add the lines shown in Figure 54
to include the IBM DPO subdirectory in the system path.
11. Restart the host system to add the IBM DPO driver subdirectory automatically
to the path.
Setting the parameters for the Sun host system
The following procedures explain how to set the Sun host system parameters for
optimum performance on the ESS:
1. Type cd /etc to change to the /etc subdirectory.
2. Type cp system system.bak to backup the system file in the /etc subdirectory.
3. Edit the system file to set the following parameters:
