Installing and configuring the QLogic QLA1041 adapter card
Perform the following steps to install and configure the QLogic QLA1041 adapter
card.
Note: The parameter settings shown are an example. The settings for your
environment might be different.
1. Install the QLogic QLA1041 adapter card in the server.
2. Connect the cable to the ESS port.
3. Start the server.
4. Press the Alt+Q key to get to the FAST!Util menu.
a. From the Configuration Settings menu, select Host Adapter Settings.
Set the following parameters:
v Host Adapter: Enabled
v Host Adapter BIOS: Disabled
v Host Adapter SCSI ID: 7
v PCI Bus DMA Burst: Enabled
v CD ROM Boot: Disabled
v SCSI Bus Reset: Enabled
v SCSI Bus Reset Delay: 5
v Concurrent Command or Data: Enabled
v Drivers Load RISC Code: Enabled
v Adapter Configuration: Auto
b. Set the parameters in the SCSI Device Settings menu as follows:
v Disconnects OK: Yes
v Check Parity: Yes
v Enable LUNS: Yes
v Enable Devices: Yes
v Negotiate Wide: Yes
v Negotiate Sync: Yes
v Tagged Queueing: Yes
v Sync Offset: 8
v Sync Period: 12
v Exec Throttle: 16
c. Save the changes and select FAST!Util again to verify that you saved the
changes.
5. Restart the server.
6. With NetWare 5, use the nwconfig command; with NetWare 4.2, use the load
install command. Type the command on the command line.
7. Load the QL1000.ham file (version 1.27) by using the disk driver option.
8. Edit the startup.ncf file, and make sure that the load statement looks like the
following example:
LOAD QL1000.HAM SLOT=x
where x is the slot number of the adapter.
9. Save the file.
10. Edit the startup.ncf file, and add the following text to the end of the file:
