Installing and Running View Client and View Portal
ThissectiondescribeshowtoinstallthecomponentsrequiredtouseViewClientand
ViewPortal.Youmustbeloggedinasanadministratorontheclientsystemtocarryout
eitherofthesetasks.
ThefunctionalityofferedbyViewClientandViewPortalisderivedfromacommonset
of
locallyinstalledbasecomponents.UserswhohavealreadyinstalledViewClientwill
beinvitedtoinstallanadditionalActiveXcontrolontheirbrowserswhentheyuse
ViewPortalforthefirsttime.
Similarly,ViewPortaluserswhodonothaveViewClientinstalledwillbepromptedto
allowthebrowserto
automaticallyinstalltherequiredViewClientcomponentsthe
firsttimetheyconnectonline.
AnexpedientwayofinstallingtheViewClientapplicationistovisittheViewPortal
pageandallowthebrowsertoautomaticallyinstalltherequiredcomponentsonthe
clientsystem.However,ifyouchoosetodothisyou
mustbeawareofthefollowing:

WindowsStartMenuentriesforViewPortalarenotcreatedafterinstallation.
