exportandimportthecontentsoftheViewLDAPrepositoryfromanystandardor
replicaViewConnectionServer.
ViewLDAPdataisexportedandimportedinLDAPdatainterchangeformat(LDIF),a
draftInternetstandardforafileformat
thatcanbeusedtoperformbatchoperations
againstdirectoriesthatconformtotheLDAPstandard.
Afteryoucompletetheinitialconfigurationofyoursingleserverorreplicatedgroup,
regularlytakebackupsofyourViewManagerdata.Donotrelyonreplicaserverstoact
asyourbackupmechanism,asany
datalostfromoneinstancewillbelostfromall
membersofthereplicatedgroupwhenthedataisharmonized.
ToscheduleregularautomaticbackupsofyourViewLDAPandViewComposerdata,
usetheViewManagerConfigurationBackupfeatureprovidedinViewAdministrator.

Alternatively,youcanusethevdmexport.exetomanuallyexportViewLDAPdata,as

LDIFdatacanbeexportedfromViewManagerusingthevdmexport.exetoolthat
accompanieseachstandardandreplicaViewConnectionServer.Thepathtothe
executablefileis:
C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\bin\vdmexport.exe
To export View Manager configuration data
From
thecommandpromptonastandardorreplicaViewConnectionServer,execute
thefollowingcommandasauserwithadministratorprivileges:
vdmexport> vdmconfig.ldf

OTEIfyouhavemultipleinstancesofViewConnectionServeroperatingina
replicatedgroup,youonlyneedtoexportthedatafromoneserver,asallreplicaservers
containthesameconfigurationdata.
