vCenter Server Permissions for View Manager Users
TousevCenterServerwithViewManager,administratorsmusthavepermissionto
carryoutcertainoperationsinvSphere.Thesepermissionsaregrantedbycreatingand
assigningvCenterServerrolestoaViewManageruserfromwithinvCenterServer.
AssigntheViewManageradministratortheroleofadministratorforadatacenteror
clusterwherepoolswillbecreatedsothattheycanmaketherequiredchanges.
To create the View Manager role for a vCenter Server user
1FromvSphereClient,clickAdministration>Roles.
2ClickAddRoletodisplaytheAddRoledialogbox.
3Enterauniquenameforthenewrole(View Administrator,forexample).
4InthelistofPrivileges,expandFolder
andselectCreateFolderandDeleteFolder.
5 ExpandVirtualMachineandperformthefollowingsteps:
a ExpandInventoryandselectCreateandselectRemove.
b ExpandInteractionandclickPowerOn,PowerOff,Suspend,andReset.
c ExpandConfigurationandselectAddnewdisk,AddorRemoveDevice,
ModifyDevice
Settings,andAdvanced.
d ExpandProvisioningandselectCustomize,DeployTemplate,andRead
CustomizationSpecifications.
6 ExpandResourceandselectAssignVirtualMachinetoResourcePool.
7ClickOK.
Thenewroleappearsinthelistofroles.
NOTEAdministrativeusersinvCenterServerhavealltherequisitepermissions
enabledbydefault.
