Standard Server Installation
AstandardserverdeploymentcreatesasinglestandaloneViewConnectionServer.
ThisservercouldlaterbecomethefirstserverinstancewithinareplicatedView
ConnectionServergroup.
WhenastandardserverinstanceiscreatedduringViewConnectionServerinstallation,
anewlocalViewLDAPinstanceisalsocreated.Theschemadefinitions,
DITdefinition,
ACLs,andsoforthareloadedandthedataisinitialized.
To install a standard server
1RunthefollowingexecutableonthesystemthatwillhosttheViewConnection
Server,wherexxxisthebuildnumberofthefile:
VMware-viewconnectionserver-xxx.exe
TheVMwareInstallationwizardisdisplayed.ClickNext.
2AccepttheVMwarelicensetermsandclick
Next.
3AcceptorchangethedestinationfolderandclickNext.
4 ChoosetheStandarddeploymentoption.
5ClickNext>Install>Finish.
Replica Server Installation
ReplicaserversareadditionalViewConnectionServerinstancesthatareinstalledin
ordertoprovidehigh‐availabilityandloadbalancing.Whenareplicaserveris
installed,alocalLDAPinstanceisalsocreatedandtheViewLDAPdataonthereplica
serverisinitializedfromanexistingViewConnectionServer.
During
replicainstallation,anagreementisestablishedthatensureseveryView
ConnectionServerinthereplicatedgroupsharesthesameconfigurationdata.
WheneverachangeismadetoViewLDAPdataononesystem,theupdated
informationisautomaticallyproliferatedacrosseveryotherreplicaserverwithinthe
group.

OTEMostconfigurationdatainViewLDAPismaintainedfromViewAdministrator,
althoughViewConnectionServermanagessomeentriesautomatically.
NOTEThisreplicationfunctionalityisprovidedbyLDAP,whichusesthesame
replicationtechnologyasActiveDirectory.
