Persistent and Non-Persistent Desktops
BothpersistentandnonpersistentdesktopconfigurationsaresupportedbyView
Composer.Inpersistentconfigurations,dedicateddisks—asystemdiskforoperating
systemdataandauserdiskforuserdata—canbeusedtokeeptheoperatingsystem
anduserdataseparate.Thisensuresthateveniftheoperatingsystemisrecomposed
or
refreshedtheuserdataremainsunaffected.
Innonpersistentconfigurationstheuserdataistransientsotheoperatingsystemdata
anduserdataarestoredonthesystemdisk.Inthisconfigurationuserdataisnot
protectedifthesystemisrecomposedorrefreshed.

OTEInordertorebalancethedesktopsitisnecessaryforViewManagerto
automaticallyrefreshtheiroperatingsystemsagainsttheircurrentbaseimageand
returnthesystemdatatoitsbaselinestate—userdataisunaffectedifitresidesona
separateuserdatadisk.
NOTEPersistentdesktopscanbesettorefreshautomaticallywhentheuserlogsoff.
Thiscanhelpminimizethespacerequirementsofthepool.Similarly,nonpersistent
poolscanbesettodeleteafterfirstuse,whichreducesthenumberofinactivedesktops
inthepooloverall.
