Itisimportanttooccasionallyrefreshtheattachedsystemsinordertopreventthe
desktopclonesgrowingtothesizeofafullvirtualmachine.Ifalltheanchoredvirtual
machinesarelefttogrowuncheckedthenallfreespaceremainingonthedatastore
couldberapidlyconsumed—particularlyifthe
storageovercommitlevelisparticularly
aggressive.
Desktop Rebalance
Alogicaldriveisastructurecreatedonasubsystemfordatastoragethatisdefinedover
asetofdrivescalledanarray.Logicaldrives—oftenreferredtoasLUNs(LogicalUnit
Number)andrepresenttheidentifierahostusestoaccessthelogicaldrive—arethe
logicalsegmentationofarrays.
If
administratorsarecreatinglargepoolsofdesktopsandareusingmultipleLUNs,
thereisapossibilitythatthespaceisnotbeingusedefficientlyiftheinitialsizingwas
inaccurate.Figure 6‐4showsanumberofvirtualdesktops,distributedunevenlyover
