Note

Only use one method, and not both, when loading a module with particular parameters.

When a parameter has commas, make sure you do not put a space after a comma.

A.2. CD-ROM Module Parameters

Not all of the CD-ROM drives that are listed are supported. Please check the Hardware Compati-

bility List on Red Hat’s website at http://hardware.redhat.com to make sure your CD-ROM drive is

supported.

Even though parameters are speciﬁed after loading the driver disk and specifying the device, one

of the more commonly used parameters (hdX=cdrom) can be entered at the boot prompt (boot:)

during installation. This exception to the rule is allowed since it deals with support for IDE/ATAPI

CD-ROMs, which is already part of the kernel.

In the following tables, most modules listed without any parameters can either be auto-probed to

ﬁnd the hardware or they require you to manually change settings in the module source code and

recompile.
