Per ANSI Z89.1, Pyramex recommends the following:
The service life of a helmet begins when the helmet is placed into service. The useful service life will vary dependent on the application.
Based on experience, the average service life is 6 months to 2 years from the time the helmet is placed into service. With proper care and
storage, the maximum service life is up to 5 years.
As long as helmets are stored in reasonable conditions, away from excessive heat, moisture, and light, the maximum shelf life is 5 years.
All Pyramex helmets include a date code that is molded into the underside of the shell’s brim that shows the month and year that the
helmet was manufactured.
