ORAL CARE The first sign is often bleeding gums in response to whatever friction is applied. As the condition progresses, the gum tissue tends to move away from the tooth allowing the bacteria to penetrate further following the gum tooth interface, finally reaching and attacking the supporting bone structure. As the bone is eroded by bacterial action, the gums tend to fall in toward the receding bone.
