the HDCP of HDMI, an equipment with this function would be
illegal. Solution: use the Component (limited to 576p), or a PC
with non-HDCP DVI output as source (old PC models).
1080i max HDMI cable and 1080p TV ?
Q : My present cable is only specified up to 1080i, but my new
devices are able to work in 1080p. Shall I replace my cable ?
A : Yes. In the same way that you replaced your HDReady
equipments by FullHD ones, cables should be also replaced
by new models able to fulfil all new technical requirements
(1080p, HDMI1.3). Keep in mind that all present Real Cable
HDMI cables are 1080p certified. Note that 1080i capability is
enough for High Definition TV (Sat. or DVBT).
Switch 1.2 HDMI Switch, 1.3 compatibility ?
Q : My Switch is 1.2 certified, is it compatible with my other
equipements in 1.3 ? Which HDMI 1.3 features will I have
available ?
A : Yes. The compatibilty is ensured. Moreover, Real Cable
HDMI switches are all 1080p (50, 60 and 24Hz) compatible
and the 1.2 version are compliant with the following features of
the 1.3 : HD sound format transmission and auto-Lip Sync.
Which HDMI cable for my system ?
HDMI cable quality depends on simple criterias, changing
with respect to the various ranges :
- Plug’s quality and its shielding (internal shielding, metal
plug…)
- Cable’s quality and its shielding (material, dual, triple
shielding…)
- Cable Frequency capability (1080p, Deep Color)
- Model features (Round, flat, flexibility, locking system…)
The shielding is an important parameter in order to avoid any
problem that may appear when different kinds of cable are
close to each other (such as power cable). The table hereunder
