Enter the following information:
• SU MAC Address: The MAC Address of the SU you want to associate to a specific QoS Class.
• SU QOSC Index: Select one of the possible QoS Classes that have been previously configured from the drop-down
box to associate to this SU.
• SU QOSC State: This field can be set to Enable, Disable, or Delete.
Click Add to add the entry. The new entry will be listed as the next sequential index entry in the QoS SU Table.
To make changes to the QoS SU Table, return to the QoS SU page, and click the Edit/Delete Table Entries button.
Enter your changes, and click OK. To delete an entry, click the Status drop-down box and select Delete, then click OK.
QoS Configuration for a Management Station
Introduction
As stated previously, the QoS feature enables prioritization of traffic and allocation of the available bandwidth based on
that prioritization. The system is designed in such a way that higher priority traffic preempts lower priority traffic, keeping
lower priority traffic on hold until higher priority traffic finishes. This mechanism ensures that the available bandwidth is
always given first to the higher priority traffic; if all the bandwidth is not consumed, the remaining bandwidth is given to the
lower priority traffic.
If QoS is not configured properly, the system can become difficult to access in heavily loaded networks. One of the side
effects of this misconfiguration is ping time-out, which is usually interpreted as a disconnection of the pinged node.
However, with the correct QoS configuration, every node in the network can be reached at any moment.
