iption
ProVa Pipe Seal is a thin square polyethylene
waterproofing collar designed to provide a secure
waterproof connection around pipes protruding
from substrates that need to be waterproof under
tile and stone installations. The ProVa Pipe Seal is
made of a waterproof fabric (ProVa Mat) containing
a highly elastic rubber center through which the pipe
snugly fits. The ProVa Pipe Seal is adhered to the
substrate with thinset and should be used in
conjunction with ProVa Mat waterproof membrane
installations.

Typical Applications
ProVa Pipe Seal is ideally suited for waterproofing
around pipes protruding from substrate where
ceramic and stone tile will be installed such as in
showers, bathrooms, wellness areas, steam rooms
and saunas.
Suitable Substrates
Most common substrates that are dry, clean, and
structurally sound including plywood (EGP), drywall,
backer board and cement slab.

allation Summary
The substrate must be clean, dry, flat and
structurally sound. The areas around pipes should be
treated first along with corners and wall-to-wall,
wall-to-floor connections first prior to installing
ProVa Mat on large sections of the wall and floor
substrate. Using a ¼” x 3/16” V-notch trowel, apply a
latex modified thinset to a 5-6 inch area around the
pipe. Thread the pipe through the center opening of
the ProVa Pipe Seal and press the fabric into the
thinset using the flat side of the trowel taking care to
eliminate any air pockets. When ready to install the
ProVa Mat, apply modified thinset onto the ProVa
Pipe Seal fabric and the surrounding substrate per
ProVa Mat installation instructions. A minimum 2”
overlap needs to be maintained where the ProVa
Mat membrane meets the ProVa Pipe Seal fabric.
Follow the ProVa Mat installation instructions to
complete the installation.
