ANNEX TRAINERS : REMINDER
INTRODUCTION
This annex was created to address the many questions of users about the practical implementation of
all PTR-6A radio as part of a schooling system.
It describes the main principles of this feature, the conditions and limits of use of the PTR-6A whole
and some concrete examples of implementation.
This document can never be a substitute for instructions and manuals of the relevant devices.
Similarly, it can in no way be considered exhaustive or 100% reliable. Manufacturers offer indeed
materials that differ from each other, and lines that evolve over time. It is therefore impossible to test
all models of all brands of remote control.
You should therefore consider this document as an aid to implementation and never as a foolproof
recipe.
MAJORS PRINCIPLES OF SCHOOLING TRAINER RC
The schooling trainer is to use two transmitters with similar or different brands to facilitate the
learning of flying. In the remainder of this document, the novice driver is called student. Its
transmitter is qualified student transmitter.
Teachers driver for his part called master. The transmitter is qualified as master transmitter.
A Trainer session usually takes place as follows :
1 / The aircraft model used as school’s airplane is equipped with a receiver responding to commands
from the master transmitter.
2 / All model flight settings are stored in the memory of the transmitter master. School’s airplane
must be perfectly tuned and running with its transmitter before considering the schooling trainer.
3 / The school’s airplane may be possible if the student transmitter is compatible with the master
transmitter. There is a great variety of transmitters on the market. Compatibility is by no means
guaranteed between models of different brands, or even between references of the same brand. The
differences can be of two types: the connector differences (catches master and student transmitter
are different) and electrical differences (the signals generated by the student transmitter does not
conform to the expected signals from the master transmitter).
4 / The schooling trainer may be implemented in two ways:
