BSC Programmers Guide
The DLI and TSI configuration process is a part of the loopback testing procedure
described in Appendix E and the installation procedure described in the Freeway Server
User’s Guide. During your client application development and testing, you might need
to perform DLI and TSI configuration repeatedly.
The DLI and TSI configuration procedures are summarized as follows (examples are for
BSC 3270):
1. Create or modify a TSI text configuration file specifying the configuration of the
TSI connections (for example,
bsc3270altcfg in the freeway/client/test/ bsc3270
directory).
2. Create or modify a DLI text configuration file specifying the DLI session configu-
ration and optional ICP link configurations for all ICPs and serial communica-
tion links in your Freeway system (for example,
bsc3270aldcfg in the
freeway/client/test/bsc3270 directory).
3. If you have a UNIX or Windows NT system, skip this step. If you have a VMS sys-
tem, run the
makefc.com command file from the
[FREEWAY.CLIENT.TEST.BSC3270] directory to create the foreign commands
used for
dlicfg and tsicfg.
@MAKEFC <tcp-sys>
where <tcp-sys> is your TCP/IP package:
MULTINET (for a Multinet system)
TCPWARE (for TCPware system)
UCX (for a UCX system)
VMS example:
@MAKEFC UCX
4. From the freeway/client/test/bsc3270 directory, execute tsicfg with the text file from
Step 1 as input. This creates the TSI binary configuration file in the same directory
as the location of the text file (unless a different path is supplied with the optional
